On to the next level

I added the interior walls on the first floor for the washroom. I'm thinking I'll insulate that small room to prevent the pipes from freezing. I raised the three walls on my own, and about halfway through started to wonder whether laundymats are really all that bad. Not that the building was difficult, but I wanted to get to the floor joists.

Taylor and Chris showed up just in time. Thanks to the two of them, we finished tying the walls together with the top plate and were able to get 4 joists up. It will be awkward, but I should be able to get more joists up on my own some morning this week. No tomorrow, though. Tomorrow, I'm sleeping!

And I have a well

Acme Well Co (or something to that effect) finally came out to drill the well. I wish I could have seen the drill operating, but I was out of town. They only went down 145 feet (David Hudson estimated 200 feet when he gave me the bid -- saved $10/foot) and had a flow of 60 gallons/minute. That sounds like a bunch of water!

4 Walls!

Kai came out to help me get the remaining 1st level walls up and a few sheets of osb on the corners for structural support. He wouldn't wear the pink tool belt for the picture, but he did have it on earlier. It went really nicely with his shirt!
